Amazon Bedrock expands API support for OpenAI models and adds Cross-Region Inferencing

feature

Amazon Bedrock now supports OpenAI GPT-5.6 models (Sol, Terra, Luna) on its bedrock-runtime endpoint, enhancing integration with additional Responses, Converse, and Chat Completions APIs. This update also introduces Cross-Region Inferencing, allowing customers to route inference requests across multiple AWS Regions. The new capability offers options for Global or Geo cross-Region inference, including US Geo support, to achieve higher throughput and lower per-token costs for OpenAI models. Expanded API support ensures models work with existing Bedrock account controls for logging, metrics, and cost reporting, and Cross-Region inference is available where OpenAI models are offered.
