feature

Amazon EKS has added support for associating up to 10 external OpenID Connect (OIDC) identity providers with a single cluster. This enhancement offers organizations greater flexibility in authenticating diverse user populations, such as employees, contractors, and CI/CD systems, without needing to consolidate users or use an intermediary broker. Each provider is independently managed and existing IAM authentication remains functional alongside new configurations. This capability is now generally available at no additional cost in all AWS Regions where Amazon EKS operates.

Features (1)
  • Support for multiple external OIDC identity providers

Amazon EKS clusters can now be associated with up to 10 external OIDC identity providers, allowing organizations to authenticate different user groups like employees, contractors, and CI/CD systems independently. This eliminates the need for user consolidation or an identity broker, as each provider is configured and managed separately. The feature is available at no extra cost in all AWS EKS regions.
