    AWS has announced the general availability of a new AWS Local Zone in Istanbul, Türkiye. This deployment brings core AWS services closer to metropolitan areas, aiming to reduce latency and meet data residency requirements.

    The Istanbul Local Zone supports EC2 instances (C7i, M7i, R7i), S3 with One Zone-Infrequent Access, EBS with Local Snapshots, ECS, EKS, VPC, Direct Connect, and Application Load Balancer.

  • Enabling the Istanbul Local Zone

    Users can enable the Istanbul Local Zone (eu-central-1-ist-1a) through the Zones tab in Amazon EC2 console settings or by using the ModifyAvailabilityZoneGroup API.
