Anthropic details expanded scientific research support programs

Anthropic is making 10,000 free standard seats and discounted premium seats ($15/month for 5x usage) available to scientists globally for one year through a new Claude team plan. This initiative aims to increase access and usage of Claude for scientific discovery, with plans to expand beyond the initial 10,000 seats.

The AI for Science program is expanding its scope to offer credits for researchers in a wider range of scientific fields, moving beyond its initial focus on biological sciences. This includes support for ambitious, compute-heavy research projects, offering up to $50,000 in credits per project.
- Eligibility and model access for researchers
To register for the Claude team plan, applicants must be a principal investigator or equivalent at an academic or nonprofit research institution. Currently, researchers in biology and chemistry are limited to Opus-class models, with Claude Fable models blocking professional biology and drug development queries due to dual-use risks. An access program for life sciences professionals to use Mythos-class models is also in its early stages.
