Anthropic Introduces Claude Tag for Collaborative AI in Slack

Claude Tag is a new feature that allows teams to integrate Claude directly into Slack channels, acting as a collaborative AI member. Users can tag @Claude to delegate tasks, connect it to tools, data, and codebases, and leverage its context-aware memory and proactive updates. This aims to make AI more proactive and better integrated into team workflows.

System administrators can tightly control Claude Tag's access to sensitive data and task-specific tools, creating distinct Claude identities scoped to specific channels. This ensures that data and capabilities from one channel, such as sales, are not accessible to another, like engineering. Administrators can also set token spend limits and view logs of Claude's activities.

Claude Tag functions as a shared AI instance within a channel, allowing multiple users to collaborate with it and see its progress. It builds context over time, reducing the need for repeated explanations, and can proactively share relevant information or follow up on unresolved tasks. Tasks can be delegated asynchronously, with Claude able to schedule its own future actions.
