App Engine flexible environment PHP will enforce TLS 1.2+ starting August 2026
Google is enhancing security for App Engine flexible environment PHP applications by opting them into TLS version 1.2 and later. This change, aimed at improving overall security, will take effect in August 2026. Developers can opt out of this enforcement until the end of August 2026, but insecure traffic using TLS 1.1 and earlier may be permanently blocked from September 2026. This affects applications running on the App Engine flexible environment using PHP.
