App Engine flexible environment Ruby to enforce TLS 1.2+ in 2026
Google Cloud's App Engine flexible environment for Ruby will automatically opt applications into TLS 1.2 and later, starting August 2026. This change enhances security by ensuring modern encryption standards are used. Users can opt out until the end of August 2026, but from September 2026, App Engine might permanently block insecure traffic with TLS 1.1 or earlier. This primarily affects developers with Ruby applications on the flexible environment.
