App Engine Standard Java to Mandate TLS 1.2+ for Enhanced Security

securitygcpengineer
feature

App Engine's standard environment for Java applications will automatically opt into TLS version 1.2 and later, beginning August 2026. This change is implemented to significantly improve application security by deprecating older, less secure protocols. Developers can opt out until the end of August 2026, but from September 2026, App Engine may permanently block insecure traffic using TLS 1.1 or earlier. This affects all Java applications deployed to App Engine standard environment.
