feature announcement

AWS has launched Capability Insights, an open-source solution for deploying regional capabilities data within your own VPC. This self-hosted dashboard helps teams managing multi-Region architectures by providing data ownership, governance, and compliance within their network perimeter. The solution auto-refreshes data daily and includes a workload analysis tool that filters services based on your actual usage from CloudTrail and CloudFormation logs, simplifying gap analysis.

  • Launch of Capability Insights, an open-source solution
  • Self-hosted dashboard for multi-Region architecture needs
  • Supports data residency, compliance, and expansion planning
  • Automated data refresh and workload analysis
  • Data remains within VPC perimeter for ownership and compliance
Features (3)
  • Launch of Capability Insights, an open-source solution

AWS announces the launch of Capability Insights, an open-source solution allowing users to deploy regional capabilities data within their own Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).

  • Self-hosted dashboard for multi-Region architecture needs

This self-hosted dashboard is designed for teams building multi-Region architectures who require regional capabilities data deployed as infrastructure they own and govern within their network.

  • Supports data residency, compliance, and expansion planning

The solution caters to organizations with data residency requirements, compliance teams needing internal reporting, and those planning regional expansion or multi-Region recovery strategies.

Enhancements (1)
  • Automated data refresh and workload analysis

The dashboard auto-refreshes AWS capabilities data across all Regions every 24 hours, covering services, features, API operations, and CloudFormation resource types. Its Workload Analysis component scans CloudTrail logs and CloudFormation stacks to identify services your account actually uses, reducing gap analysis time.

Notes (1)
  • Data remains within VPC perimeter for ownership and compliance

All data stays within your VPC perimeter, ensuring compliance and data residency requirements are met while providing full ownership and control over the hosting infrastructure.
