AWS Direct Connect introduces inbound prefix controls and higher prefix scale
AWS Direct Connect has rolled out inbound prefix controls, enabling users to manage and allocate route-prefix capacity for private and transit virtual interfaces. This update significantly increases the maximum accepted route prefixes from 100 to 1,000 for both IPv4 and IPv6 on VIFs. It helps simplify network architecture for larger on-premises environments by reducing the need for route summarization or VIF segmentation. The new capability is available at no extra charge in all commercial AWS Regions, GovCloud, and China Regions, and can be configured via console or CLI/API.
