AWS Enhances Regional Resiliency for Root User Sign-in
AWS has expanded its root user sign-in services, now distributing traffic across US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), and US West (Oregon). This change significantly improves resiliency during service disruptions by reducing reliance on a single region for all AWS accounts. While sign-in routing is automatic, customers must update their CloudTrail monitoring and alerting configurations to include all three regions for full visibility into root user activity.

AWS root user sign-in traffic is now distributed across US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), and US West (Oregon). This reduces reliance on a single region, enhancing resiliency during service disruptions. To maintain full visibility into root user sign-in activity, monitoring and alerting for CloudTrail ConsoleLogin events should cover all three regions.
