Azure DDoS Protection Introduces Custom Policy Public Preview

securityazurepreviewengineer
feature

Azure DDoS Protection has launched a public preview of its new custom policy feature, enabling per-resource control over DDoS mitigation thresholds. This capability allows customers to set fixed inbound detection thresholds for TCP, UDP, and TCP SYN traffic, ranging from 50,000 to 2,000,000 packets per second. It helps manage predictable or unusual traffic patterns by overriding the service's adaptive auto-tuning for specific protocols. The custom policy is currently available for Standard Load Balancer frontend IP configurations through the Azure portal, CLI, ARM templates, and REST API, with limited regional availability during preview.
