infraazuregaarchitect
feature

Azure Ephemeral OS Disk with full caching has reached general availability for new Virtual Machines and Virtual Machine Scale Sets. This feature caches the entire OS image on a VM's local storage, significantly boosting I/O performance by up to 10x and improving resilience during storage interruptions. It is optimized for I/O-sensitive, stateless workloads such as AI training, real-time analytics, and quorum-based databases. The capability is available in all Azure public regions for supported 8-core-and-larger VM series and can be enabled via Azure CLI, ARM templates, or REST APIs.
