Azure reservation exchanges for services covered by savings plans to end Feb 1, 2027
Azure is discontinuing the ability to exchange reservations for services covered by savings plans, effective February 1, 2027. This change impacts reservations for Azure Virtual Machines, Dedicated Host, App Service, and several Azure Database services, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, DocumentDB, Cosmos DB, SQL Database, and SQL Managed Instance. Customers with active reservations purchased before the cut-off date will still retain one final exchange right after February 1, 2027. This policy will extend to other services as they become covered by savings plans, excluding deprecated products or those not supporting savings plans.

- End of Azure Reservation Exchanges for Services Covered by Savings Plans
Beginning February 1, 2027, Azure will no longer support reservation exchanges for services that are covered by savings plans. This policy applies to various compute and database services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure App Service, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure SQL Database. Each active reservation purchased before the February 1, 2027, cut-off date will retain the right to one final exchange after this date.
