Azure retires D, Ds, Dv2, Dsv2, and Ls Series VMs on May 1, 2028
Azure will retire the D, Ds, Dv2, Dsv2, and Ls series of virtual machines on May 1, 2028, meaning they will no longer be available for use or purchase. This necessitates migrating workloads to newer VM generations to ensure future application operability. Purchasing of three-year reserved instances for these VMs ends May 1, 2025, with one-year reserved instances ending July 1, 2026.

The D, Ds, Dv2, Dsv2, and Ls series Azure Virtual Machines will be retired on May 1, 2028, and will no longer be usable or purchasable after this date. Users must migrate their workloads to newer VM generations to maintain service continuity.
- Reserved Instance Purchase End Dates
Three-year reserved instances for these VM series can no longer be purchased or renewed starting May 1, 2025. One-year reserved VM instances will cease to be available for purchase or renewal starting July 1, 2026. Existing three-year reserved instance contracts will be honored until their expiration, after which pay-as-you-go rates will apply.
