Azure VMware Solution AV36 Node Retirement Date Moved to September 30, 2027
Microsoft has updated the retirement date for Azure VMware Solution AV36 node types to September 30, 2027, aligning with VMware's roadmap and Broadcom's support end date for vSphere 8. This change affects all AV36 Software-Defined Data Centers (SDDCs), which will lose access on October 1, 2027, irrespective of existing reservation agreements. - AV36 Node Retirement Date Advanced to September 30, 2027
The retirement date for Azure VMware Solution AV36 node types has been moved to September 30, 2027, to align with VMware's roadmap and Broadcom's end of support for vSphere 8. All AV36 SDDCs will be retired after this date and will be inaccessible from October 1, 2027. This change is specific to AV36 nodes; other AVS node types remain available.

- Key Dates for AV36 Subscriptions
The last day to purchase a 1-year Reserved Instance (RI) for AV36 VCF BYOL is June 30, 2026. Broadcom ends support for VCF 5.x on September 30, 2027, by which time AV36 is not compatible with VCF 9. Customer data will be retained for up to 60 days after SDDC access is removed on October 1, 2027, to support retrieval. Specific dates for AV36 Pay-As-You-Go subscriptions should be confirmed with a Microsoft Account Team.
