Azure VMware Solution AV36P and AV52 Node Retirement on June 30, 2029

Microsoft is announcing the retirement of Azure VMware Solution (AVS) AV36P and AV52 nodes, with all migrations needing to be completed by June 30, 2029. This retirement impacts existing AV36P and AV52 subscriptions, including Pay-As-You-Go and Reserved Instances, with specific dates for purchasing remaining RI options. Customers are advised to transition to newer AVS node types like AV48 or AV64 before their current RI terms expire and to consult with their Microsoft Account Team for migration support.

    Azure VMware Solution AV36P and AV52 nodes will be retired on June 30, 2029. All migrations off these node types must be completed by this date. AVS AV48 and AV64 nodes remain available.

  • Reserved Instance Purchase Deadlines

    The last day to purchase a 3-year RI for AV36P or AV52 VCF BYOL is June 30, 2026, and the last day to buy a 1-year RI is June 30, 2028. Existing RI terms are not affected by this announcement.

  • Required Customer Action

    Customers using AV36P and AV52 nodes are required to transition to a new AVS node type before the end of their current RI term. Resources for identifying available node types and HCX migrations are provided.
