CloudWatch Coding Agent Insights launched
Amazon CloudWatch now offers Coding Agent Insights to help engineering leaders track the ROI of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Codex, and GitHub Copilot. This feature integrates with Claude apps gateway and uses OpenTelemetry metrics to provide visibility into adoption, cost, and impact on delivery velocity. It is available in most AWS commercial regions and requires configuring the Claude apps gateway to emit telemetry to CloudWatch.

- Operational and cost insights from agent telemetry
The feature leverages OpenTelemetry metrics from coding agents, presenting them with existing CloudWatch operational data. This enables tracking of spend trends, setting billing alerts, correlating agent use with delivery improvements, and identifying cost-effective models.

- Availability and configuration
Coding Agent Insights is available in most AWS commercial regions, excluding Middle East (UAE), Middle East (Bahrain), and Israel (Tel Aviv). Users need to configure their Claude apps gateway for telemetry emission and can view the dashboard in the CloudWatch console.
