Compute Engine: Create regional disks from custom/public images (Preview)

Google Compute Engine now enables users to create regional disks, including Hyperdisk Balanced High Availability volumes, directly from custom and public OS images. This new capability provides enhanced data redundancy and availability by distributing volumes across multiple zones within a region. Available as a feature preview, it allows engineers to more easily deploy highly available storage solutions using their preferred operating system configurations.
