Databricks Expands Networking Billing for OpenSharing SecureConnect
Databricks is expanding its networking billing for OpenSharing SecureConnect, introducing new charge types and access scenarios. This update moves beyond current data transfer (egress) charges, which are billed to data providers when recipients access shared data. New charges for private and public connectivity are planned, including scenarios where recipients will be billed directly. These changes primarily affect data providers and recipients utilizing OpenSharing SecureConnect for cross-region, cross-cloud, or same-region data sharing.

Databricks is expanding its networking billing for OpenSharing SecureConnect to include additional charge types and access scenarios. While data providers are currently billed for data transfer (egress), future changes will introduce charges for Private Connectivity and Public Connectivity, with some scenarios billing the data recipient directly. These new billing types are marked as 'coming soon'.
