Databricks Genie One Gains PDF Uploads, User Mentions, and Default Ontology

Databricks Genie One has been enhanced with several new capabilities, including the ability to upload and parse PDF files within conversations. Users can now also mention workspace colleagues directly in document comments, improving collaborative workflows. Additionally, the Genie Ontology, which provides a unified business context layer, is now enabled by default for all users, though it remains in Public Preview.

  • Genie One now supports PDF file uploads in conversations

    Users can now upload PDF files into Genie One conversations, supplementing existing CSV and Excel file support. The system asynchronously parses these PDF documents, a capability currently available in Beta.

  • Mention workspace users in Genie One document comments

    Genie One documents now allow users to mention other workspace users directly within comments. This enhancement improves collaborative workflows directly within the document context.

  • Genie Ontology enabled by default in Public Preview

    The Genie Ontology, a unified context layer designed to provide a business-aware map of an organization, is now enabled by default. This feature remains in Public Preview.
