Databricks has released new features for Genie One, including a native desktop application for macOS (currently in beta) that provides always-on AI assistance without browser tabs. The update also enhances document collaboration, allowing users to draft, edit, and share reports directly within Genie One with live data visualizations and versioning. Additionally, users can now share workflows by creating reusable Genie Agents from conversations or sharing chat results with colleagues. These capabilities, built on existing enterprise governance, enable better context integration via Genie Ontology snippets and direct file uploads.

Features (3)
  • Desktop Application for macOS

Genie One is now available as a native macOS desktop app, providing direct access with a global launcher so users don’t need to switch between browser tabs. This app offers the full Genie One experience, including documents, skills, and agents, with conversation persistence across web and desktop. The macOS app is currently available in beta.

  • Enhanced Document Creation and Collaboration

Users can now draft, edit, comment on, and share executive-ready documents directly within Genie One without context-switching between tools. This includes creating editable reports with live data visualizations, viewing version history, adding comments, and downloading documents as PDFs. These features support the full content development lifecycle within Genie One.

  • Share Workflows and Insights

New capabilities allow users to share insights and workflows by instantly creating reusable Genie Agents from domain-specific conversations, which can then be refined and shared with teammates. For ad-hoc interactions, users can share read-only links to any Genie One conversation, including questions, answers, visualizations, and context.

Enhancements (1)
  • Expanded Context Integration and Actions

Genie One now incorporates modeled business context from Genie Ontology snippets and supports direct file uploads (CSV, Excel, PDF, images, Word) for richer data analysis within conversations. Users can also perform 'MCP writes' actions, such as commenting on tickets or sending emails, through connected MCP tools, all governed by the Unity AI Gateway.

Notes (1)
  • Enterprise-Level Governance Foundation

All Genie One interactions and new capabilities continue to be grounded in existing enterprise governance frameworks. Unity Catalog manages access to Databricks data and Genie Agents. External sources like Google Drive and SharePoint use their configured authentication, and the Unity AI Gateway governs MCP tools.
