Databricks OpenSharing for Default Storage Tables Now Generally Available and Default-Enabled

Databricks has made OpenSharing support for tables backed by default storage generally available and enabled by default for most accounts. This feature allows for easier data sharing directly from default storage. Automatic enablement for Enterprise or Premium tier accounts will roll out from mid-September 2026 to early 2027. Account administrators can manually enable the 'OpenSharing for Default Storage – Expanded Access' feature via the Previews page before the automatic rollout.

This capability will be automatically rolled out to most Enterprise or Premium tier accounts between mid-September 2026 and early 2027.
