- Salim Nuru named DSF Member of the Month
Salim Nuru is recognized as the DSF Member of the Month for June 2026. He is a former Djangonaut Space participant, organizer of DjangoCon Africa, and currently chairs the DjangoCon US website team. Nuru is also a software engineer and security researcher from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Nuru began using Django during college for freelance work, drawn to its ease of learning. He is proficient in other Python frameworks like Flask and FastAPI and wishes Django had built-in REST API support. Currently, he is developing a platform that scans Android apps for security vulnerabilities using AI and a local LLM.
