feature

GitHub Copilot code review now provides approval assessments within its overview comments, indicating when a pull request is ready for merge. Administrators can also enable Copilot to automatically submit approvals that count towards repository merge rules, though this is off by default. The feature offers granular configuration at enterprise, organization, and repository levels and is available in public preview for GitHub Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise plans.

  • Copilot Provides Approval Assessments in Code Reviews

Every Copilot code review now includes an approval assessment within the overview comment, indicating whether the pull request is considered ready for approval. This assessment provides a quick judgment alongside detailed comments but does not independently count towards merge requirements.

  • Optional Automatic Pull Request Approvals

Admins can enable Copilot to submit approvals that count toward repository merge rules, with its approval dismissed if new commits are pushed after further changes. This capability is off by default and configurable at enterprise, organization, and repository levels, allowing for granular control over which file paths Copilot is allowed to approve.
