SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for BigQuery Now Generally Available

SAP and Google Cloud have launched the general availability of SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for BigQuery, offering zero-copy access to data products across SAP Business Data Cloud and BigQuery. This integration aims to reduce silos, preserve business context, and accelerate analytics and AI.

The connector establishes a secure, bi-directional connection allowing direct access to SAP tables, metadata, and business semantics within BigQuery and Knowledge Catalog, and vice-versa. This supports AI agents by grounding them in operational data rather than isolated database fields.

Organizations can now build governed, trustworthy AI applications grounded in a semantically rich data foundation, leveraging live, zero-copy access to data products across SAP and BigQuery. This facilitates the deployment of multi-agent workflows across SAP and Google platforms.

The integration enables combining critical SAP data with external datasets, such as Google Trends and geospatial data, to enrich business context. Employees can use natural language queries via Gemini Enterprise or Joule for immediate, context-aware answers grounded in unified SAP and Google Cloud data.

The zero-copy architecture minimizes the need for data replication, storage, and maintenance, thereby lowering TCO compared to traditional data platforms. Querying data in place also avoids data sharing fees, creating a predictable billing model.

Early adopters using preview access have reported benefits such as faster data pipelines, breakdown of global data silos, prediction of supply chain disruptions, and quicker responses to customer demands.
