Users can mention @GitHub in channels or direct messages to initiate sessions, transforming discussions and meeting action items into code investigation and development tasks. This public preview feature requires paid Copilot plans and consumes AI credits, with separate billing for cloud sandbox usage. Organizations can also enforce additional pull request approvals for Copilot-generated work, ensuring compliance oversight.

Tasks started in Teams can proceed asynchronously in a secure cloud sandbox. Users can follow progress in the code channel and then access agent-generated artifacts from their terminal, the GitHub Copilot app, or their preferred IDE.
