Features (2)
  • Snowflake Adaptive Compute is now Generally Available

Snowflake Adaptive Compute, designed to handle dynamic and unpredictable data workloads, is now officially generally available on AWS. This feature automates infrastructure management to boost throughput, accelerate insights, and reduce the burden on engineering teams.

  • Upcoming Compute Advisor Public Preview

Snowflake is announcing the upcoming public preview of Compute Advisor, a self-service framework designed to allow users to test and compare compute tiers using their own real-world workloads, mirroring Snowflake's internal testing methodology.

Enhancements (4)
  • Expanded Global Footprint and BCDR Resilience

The General Availability release of Adaptive Compute includes expansion to additional global regions, enhancing geographic presence and enabling Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery pairings. Specific regions in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific are now supported.

  • Improved Price-Performance

Adaptive Compute offers improved price-performance, benchmarked as 1.2x better than Generation 2 Standard Warehouses on the TPC-DS 10TB Concurrency Benchmark. Early partners have reported aggregate price-performance gains.

  • Performance Upgrades for Gen2 Standard Warehouses

Snowflake's Gen2 Standard Warehouses have also received significant performance upgrades at no additional cost, including improvements to query engine compilation time, query plan quality, execution optimization, and access to semi-structured data.

  • Enhancements to Snowflake Optima

Improvements have been made to Snowflake Optima, the built-in optimization layer that automatically applies performance improvements based on workload behavior, including query planning enhancements and smarter query pruning.
