Southern Company Enhances Storm Response with Databricks-Powered SCOUT
Southern Company has completed its end-to-end storm intelligence strategy by adding SCOUT, a real-time storm operations application built on the Databricks Data + AI Platform. This application unifies outage, customer, terrain, and crew-planning intelligence into a single real-time restoration experience, extending operational visibility beyond the control room. SCOUT helps dispatchers, storm leaders, and field teams move faster and deploy smarter by providing a live, data-rich picture of outages, leveraging Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Lakehouse Warehouses. The platform, adopted by over 1,100 employees, has already earned a 2025 S.E.E. Industry Excellence Award for transforming outage information access.
