AlloyDB Omni RPM Orchestrator for PostgreSQL Reaches General Availability
The AlloyDB Omni Red Hat RPM orchestrator for PostgreSQL is now generally available, enabling production-ready security, resiliency, and low-downtime operations for self-managed workloads. It brings cloud-like database automation and Google’s AI capabilities directly to virtual machines and bare-metal servers. This release provides enhanced performance (2x faster transactional, 100x faster analytical than standard PostgreSQL) and control for regulated, edge, or on-premises deployments. It includes features like automated backup/restore, SELinux enforcement, low-downtime maintenance, and supports four deployment modes alongside AlloyDB Omni version 18.3.0.
- →General Availability of AlloyDB Omni RPM Orchestrator
- →Flexible deployment models and high-availability architecture
- →Enhanced data protection and security features
- →Integrated observability and AI capabilities
- →Designed for specific enterprise and regulated use cases

- General Availability of AlloyDB Omni RPM Orchestrator
The Red Hat RPM orchestrator for AlloyDB Omni is now generally available, enabling production-ready security, resiliency, and low-downtime operations for PostgreSQL workloads on virtual machines and bare-metal servers. It launches with AlloyDB Omni version 18.3.0 and supports four deployment modes, bringing cloud-like database automation with Google’s AI capabilities to self-managed environments.
- Flexible deployment models and high-availability architecture
The orchestrator provides flexible deployment models for optimizing performance, read throughput, or high availability, simplifying cluster provisioning and lifecycle management. It enables robust HA architectures with load balancing, synchronous replication, an independent control plane, and dynamic read pool scaling for read-heavy workloads.
- Enhanced data protection and security features
The orchestrator integrates automated backup and restore capabilities to GCS or S3-compatible storage, supporting scheduled backups, point-in-time recovery, and in-place PIT restore. It also enforces SELinux for mandatory access control and strong process isolation, satisfying strict enterprise compliance and security standards.
- Integrated observability and AI capabilities
The orchestrator offers advanced logging to disk and custom metrics support for fine-tuned monitoring and auditability within existing observability platforms. It includes support for all AlloyDB Omni's AI features such as natural language querying, AI-powered searches, and AI functions, as well as a range of PostgreSQL extensions.
Enhancements (1) ›
- Streamlined database operations and maintenance
It reduces operational overhead with fully automated Low Downtime Maintenance for minor version upgrades and resource adjustments, including automatic rollback support. Database administrators can dynamically tune settings (GUCs/configs) and easily add or remove database nodes to manage cluster footprint as workload demands shift.
Notes (1) ›
- Designed for specific enterprise and regulated use cases
The orchestrator addresses needs for workload modernization (2x faster transactional, 100x faster analytical than standard PostgreSQL), regulated environments with strict data residency, edge and on-premises deployments for low-latency, and AI-ready infrastructure with vector search for generative AI applications.
