Amazon Bedrock AgentCore now offers memory, policy management, and a managed harness for building agents in AWS GovCloud (US-West). These features enable context-aware agents and faster prototyping to production for regulated environments, abstracting away complex infrastructure management. The new capabilities are available now for teams operating within the GovCloud region.

- AgentCore adds short-term and long-term memory capabilities
AgentCore now includes short-term memory for immediate conversational context and long-term memory to retain user insights across sessions, simplifying agent development.
- Policy management for centralized, fine-grained agent-tool controls
New policy features allow teams to define natural language rules for agent-tool interactions, which are automatically converted to Cedar policies and evaluated before tool access.
- Managed harness simplifies agent deployment and execution
Developers can now use a managed harness to declare agent configurations (model, tools, instructions) and run them with minimal API calls, with AgentCore managing the underlying infrastructure.
