Amazon EC2 I8g instances now available in AWS GovCloud (US)
Amazon EC2 Storage Optimized I8g instances are now generally available in AWS GovCloud (US) regions. Powered by Graviton4 processors and Nitro SSDs, these instances offer significantly improved compute and storage performance for I/O-intensive workloads. They are ideal for databases, real-time analytics, and AI/LLM pre-processing, and are available in multiple sizes with substantial local storage and network bandwidth.

Amazon EC2 Storage Optimized I8g instances are now available in AWS GovCloud (US) East and West regions. These instances are designed for storage-intensive workloads requiring rapid data access and low latency.

These instances are well-suited for transactional databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, as well as real-time analytics platforms and AI/LLM pre-processing for training.

The new I8g instances leverage AWS Graviton4 processors for up to 60% better compute performance and third-generation AWS Nitro SSDs for up to 65% better real-time storage performance. They also offer reduced storage I/O latency and variability.
- Flexible configurations and high network bandwidth
I8g instances come in 11 sizes, including a metal option, with up to 1.5 TiB of memory and 45 TB of local NVMe storage. They provide up to 100 Gbps of network bandwidth and 60 Gbps for EBS.
