Amazon ECS on EC2 now supports Amazon S3 Files
Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) now supports Amazon S3 Files for tasks running on the Amazon EC2 launch type. This enables containerized applications to access data in Amazon S3 as a shared file system using standard file system semantics. It allows file-based applications, AI agents, and data processing workloads to operate on S3 data without code changes or data staging. This extends existing S3 Files support, previously available for Fargate and ECS Managed Instances, providing consistent access across all three ECS launch types in all AWS commercial and GovCloud regions.

- Amazon ECS on EC2 gains Amazon S3 Files support
Customers can now connect containerized applications running on Amazon ECS EC2 launch type to data in Amazon S3 as a shared file system. This allows file-based applications, AI agents, and data processing workloads to use S3 data with standard file system semantics, eliminating the need for code changes or data staging. The feature extends existing S3 Files support from Fargate and ECS Managed Instances to all ECS launch types, leveraging Amazon EFS for low-latency performance.
