Amazon OpenSearch Service Extends Support for Older Versions
Amazon OpenSearch Service is extending security and operating system patch coverage for several older engine versions by an additional 12 months, through November 7, 2027. This offers customers more time to plan and complete their migrations to newer versions. This extension applies to specific Elasticsearch versions 1.5-7.8 and OpenSearch versions 1.0-1.2 and 2.3-2.9, with a surcharge applied from November 7, 2026. Additionally, new support dates have been announced for Elasticsearch versions 6.8, 7.9, 7.10, and OpenSearch versions 1.3, 2.11-2.19.

- Extended support runway for existing OpenSearch domains
Security and OS patch coverage for Elasticsearch 1.5-7.8 (excluding 5.6) and OpenSearch 1.0-1.2 and 2.3-2.9 is extended by 12 months through November 7, 2027. Domains on these versions will not be isolated, and a surcharge equal to instance pricing will apply from November 7, 2026.

Standard and Extended Support dates are now available for Elasticsearch 6.8, 7.9, 7.10, OpenSearch 1.3, and OpenSearch 2.11-2.19. Elasticsearch 6.8, 7.10 and OpenSearch 1.3, 2.19 get 3 years of Extended Support.

Elasticsearch 7.9 and OpenSearch 2.11-2.17 will receive 1 year of Extended Support. The Extended Support charge for these versions is $0.0065 per Normalized Instance Hour (NIH) in US East (N. Virginia).
