Amazon RDS for Oracle adds support for Oracle Database 26ai
Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports Oracle Database 26ai, integrating with Amazon Bedrock for foundation models and offering Oracle's Select AI for natural language queries. This enables in-database retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and AI Vector Search without external vector databases. The feature is available in all commercial and AWS GovCloud Regions for Enterprise Edition instances, with upgrade paths from 19c and 21c.

Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports Oracle Database 26ai, Oracle's latest Long Term Support Release. This includes integration with Amazon Bedrock for accessing foundation models like Anthropic Claude, Amazon Nova, and Meta Llama. It is available in Enterprise Edition.
- Oracle Select AI for natural language queries
Oracle Database 26ai introduces Oracle's Select AI feature, allowing users to generate and run SQL queries using natural language prompts. This feature aims to increase productivity for both developers and business users.
- In-database RAG and AI Vector Search
Users can implement retrieval augmented generation (RAG) directly from SQL using Oracle AI Vector Search without moving data out of the database. AI Vector Search supports storing vector embeddings and performing semantic similarity and hybrid searches natively.
- JSON Relational Duality Views and SQL Property Graphs
Oracle Database 26ai includes JSON Relational Duality Views for accessing data as JSON documents or relational tables, and SQL Property Graphs for in-database graph analytics.

- Upgrade and creation options for Oracle Database 26ai instances
New DB instances can be created with Oracle Database 26ai via the AWS Management Console, CLI, or SDK. Existing Oracle Database 19c or 21c container databases (CDBs) can be upgraded to 26ai. Non-CDB instances must be converted to CDBs first.
