feature announcement

Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) now includes native support for Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) signing. This new capability allows recipients to verify email authenticity and ensure content has not been altered in transit, enhancing trust and security for communications. Senders can store their signing certificates in AWS Certificate Manager, enabling SES to automatically sign outgoing messages without prior manual intervention. This feature is available in all AWS regions where SES operates, simplifying secure email delivery for security-conscious senders.

Features (1)
  • Automated S/MIME Email Signing for SES

Amazon SES now allows users to enable S/MIME signing for their sender identities by storing signing certificates in AWS Certificate Manager. This automates the signing process, helping recipients confirm email authenticity and content integrity without manual pre-signing, while still allowing non-S/MIME clients to read messages normally.
