Amazon S3 Adds PrivateLink Support for FIPS Endpoints
Amazon S3 now supports AWS PrivateLink for endpoints that have been validated under the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-3 program. This enables customers with stringent security and compliance requirements to use FIPS-validated cryptographic modules while keeping their S3 traffic within their Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The capability is available at no additional cost in specific AWS US East, US West, Canada, and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. Users can get started by creating or editing an interface VPC endpoint for S3 and configuring it to use the FIPS S3 endpoint.

Amazon S3 now allows customers to connect to FIPS 140-3 validated endpoints using AWS PrivateLink, ensuring traffic remains within their VPC. This feature enables adherence to security and compliance standards by leveraging FIPS-validated cryptographic modules for data transfers. It is available in select AWS US and Canada regions at no extra cost, requiring configuration of an interface VPC endpoint for S3.
