AWS Transform adds offline schema transformation for SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL
AWS Transform for full-stack Windows modernization now supports offline source transformation, allowing SQL Server databases to be modernized to Aurora PostgreSQL without a live connection. This feature enables enterprises to upload DDL source files and convert both database and code objects like stored procedures, accelerating the modernization of legacy .NET applications. The offline capability is now generally available in US East (N. Virginia) and provides an iterative workflow with options for web console edits or IDE integration.

AWS Transform now supports offline source transformation, enabling modernization of Microsoft SQL Server databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL without requiring a live database connection. Customers can upload Data Design Language (DDL) source files to convert tables, schemas, stored procedures, and functions.
- Synthetic data workflow for application validation
A separate synthetic data workflow is available to populate Aurora PostgreSQL with test data, facilitating end-to-end application validation.

- Agentic, interactive code object conversion for stored procedures
The service converts SQL Server code objects such as stored procedures and functions using an agentic, interactive experience. This process validates functional equivalence and deploys the converted schema to Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Database-dependent .NET application transformation
The workflow also transforms database-dependent .NET applications to be PostgreSQL compatible, including updating connection strings and data-access calls for ADO.NET and Entity Framework.
- Iterative conversion and IDE integration
Customers can address remaining conversion issues by iterating directly in the web console or by handing off to their preferred IDE using the AWS Transform MCP server.
