Azure Sphere retiring legacy service interfaces Sep 2027

Azure announced the upcoming retirement of Azure Sphere Legacy service interfaces, including the PAPI and azsphere CLI, on September 27th, 2027. Customers must migrate to Azure Sphere Integrated before this date to continue managing their devices. Azure Sphere Integrated offers enhanced capabilities such as integration with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, and Azure Monitor.

  • Retirement of Azure Sphere Legacy service interfaces

    Azure Sphere Legacy API (PAPI) and Azure Sphere Legacy CLI (azsphere) will be retired on September 27th, 2027. After this date, these interfaces will no longer be available for managing Azure Sphere devices.

  • Migration deadline and support

    Migration to Azure Sphere Integrated must be completed by September 27th, 2027. The Legacy interfaces will remain fully supported until the retirement date.
