Google Cloud Storage is changing how Object Lifecycle Management's Delete action handles empty folders in buckets with hierarchical namespace enabled. Starting August 26, 2026, empty folders meeting lifecycle rule conditions will be automatically deleted. This change affects users managing storage costs and organization within hierarchical namespace buckets.
