- DSF Open Space Event Details at DjangoCon US
The Django Software Foundation will host an "Open Space" session at DjangoCon US on Wednesday, August 26th, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm in the Wolf Point Ballroom at voco Chicago Downtown. The session is open to everyone, regardless of DSF membership status, for direct interaction with board members and staff.
- Fundraising and Finances Discussion
The session will discuss the DSF's 2026 fundraising goal of $500,000, explaining how funds are used (primarily for Django Fellows) and tracking progress. Corporate membership and sponsorship opportunities will also be addressed.
- Executive Director Search Update
An update on the search for the DSF's first Executive Director will be provided, with applications open until September 14, 2026. The session offers a chance to learn more about the role for potential applicants or those who know qualified candidates.
- DSF Membership Engagement
Information will be shared on how individual membership works, how to become a member, and the role members play, including voting in DSF elections. The foundation encourages more community members to participate.
- Technical Governance and Community Involvement
Attendees can get updates on Django Enhancement Proposals (DEP) 19 and 20, concerning the rewriting of Django's technical governance and the move to one feature release per year. Opportunities to join working groups and teams will also be discussed.
