GitHub Copilot agent session streaming enters public preview

GitHub Copilot agent session streaming is now available in public preview for GitHub Enterprise Cloud customers with enterprise managed users. This feature provides direct visibility into AI usage across an enterprise by enabling access to prompts, responses, and tool calls via a streaming endpoint or REST API. This allows for better management of AI usage and auditability, with Microsoft Purview also supported as a streaming endpoint.

  • Enable streaming access to Copilot agent session data

    GitHub Enterprise Cloud customers can now access Copilot agent session data, including prompts, responses, and tool calls, via a streaming endpoint or REST API. This feature is in public preview and aims to provide visibility into AI usage across the enterprise.

  • Configure Copilot session streaming via AI Controls

    To enable Copilot agent session streaming and API access, administrators can navigate to the Copilot subpage within AI Controls and select 'Enable everywhere'.

  • Stream Copilot session data to external endpoints

    The streaming endpoint allows enterprises to automatically send all Copilot session data to an event collector or SIEM tool of their choice by configuring their audit log settings.

  • Integrate with Microsoft Purview for Copilot auditability

    Microsoft Purview is now a supported streaming endpoint in public preview, offering a direct pathway for customers in the Microsoft ecosystem to send GitHub Copilot auditability data from all clients.

  • Retrieve Copilot usage records via REST API

    Enterprise owners can use the provided REST API endpoint to retrieve the last 48 hours of Copilot session data on demand.
