GitHub Enterprise: Per-user AI credit budgets for cost centers
GitHub Enterprise now allows setting per-user AI credit budgets for cost centers, automatically following users as they join or leave teams. This feature simplifies cost management for AI usage by eliminating the need for individual budgets, enabling more granular funding based on team needs. Initially available via REST API, with UI support coming soon, it offers greater control over AI spending, even capping usage before metered charges begin.

- Per-user AI credit budgets for GitHub Enterprise cost centers
Enterprise admins can now set individual AI credit budgets per user within a cost center, which automatically applies to all members. This budget follows users as their membership in cost centers or enterprise teams changes, simplifying budget management.
- Budget precedence and usage tracking
Per-user budgets track all AI credit consumption, including included usage, potentially stopping users before metered charges accrue. The precedence runs from most specific to least specific: individual user budget, cost center user-level budget, and then the universal budget.

- Granular AI cost control and flexible funding
This feature provides more granular options for funding teams by allowing different per-user budgets for various cost centers. For instance, platform engineering teams can have a higher budget than other teams, all managed without setting individual user budgets.
