Google Distributed Cloud for Bare Metal Version 1.36.0-gke.532 Now Available
Google has released version 1.36.0-gke.532 of Google Distributed Cloud (software only) for bare metal, which updates Kubernetes to version 1.36 and container management to containerd 2.2. This release includes enhancements such as an upgraded Ansible version (2.18) requiring Python 3.8+, support for layer 4 gateway controllers, and increased temporary storage requirements for `bmctl backup cluster`. It also makes vertical pod autoscaling generally available and resolves several vulnerabilities and critical issues, including CA certificate secret conflicts and etcd encryption update failures. The new version is available for download, with API client availability expected within 7-14 days.

The following issues were fixed in 1.36.0-gke.532: Fixed vulnerabilities listed in Vulnerability fixes . Fixed an issue where CA certificate secrets with identical names across different namespaces stalled cluster upgrades. In this release, the system automatically prepends the target namespace prefix to all the CA certificate secret names when forwarding them to the destination namespace. The prefix makes sure each CA certificate secret name is unique so the upgrade doesn't stall. Google Distributed Cloud for bare metal 1.36.0-gke.532 runs on Kubernetes v1.36.0-gke.2800. After a release, it takes approximately 7 to 14 days for the version to become available for installations or upgrades with the GKE On-Prem API clients: the Google Cloud console, the gcloud CLI, and Terraform.
