GKE Resolves GPUDirect-TCPX Incompatibility for A3-highGPU Nodes

infragcpengineergcp-gke
patch

Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) has fixed an incompatibility issue between GPUDirect-TCPX on A3-highGPU-8g machine types and the Linux kernel used by Container-Optimized OS in GKE versions 1.34 and later. This resolution unblocks the creation and upgrade of node pools utilizing A3-highGPU-8g machines, which were previously prevented from moving to GKE 1.34+. Users can now upgrade these node pools to supported patch versions of GKE 1.34, 1.35, and 1.36+. It requires updating the GPUDirect-TCPX installer to version 3.1.9+ and the sidecar to 2.0.12+ to avoid performance degradation or workload failures.
