feature

Amazon Kinesis Data Streams' on-demand streams now support scaling down ingest capacity via warm throughput. This enhancement allows users to proactively manage stream write throughput up or down, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency by releasing excess capacity. The feature is available at no additional cost for all on-demand streams with On-demand Advantage mode enabled in supported AWS Regions.

Features (1)
  • Scale down Kinesis Data Streams ingest capacity with warm throughput

Kinesis Data Streams on-demand streams now allow scaling down ingest capacity through warm throughput. Users can set a lower warm throughput value, and the stream will adjust to either the requested capacity or the peak usage from the last hour, whichever is higher. This ensures sufficient capacity for current traffic while releasing excess resources.

Enhancements (1)
  • Warm throughput scale-down available at no extra cost

The new warm throughput scale-down functionality for on-demand Kinesis Data Streams is available at no additional cost. This feature requires On-demand Advantage mode to be enabled and is supported in all AWS Regions where this mode is available.
