SageMaker Studio adds notebook scheduling and orchestration

aiawsengineer
feature

Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio now allows scheduling, parameterizing, and orchestrating notebook runs directly from the interface, reducing the need for external orchestration tools. This feature simplifies moving notebooks from experimentation to production by automating recurring tasks like daily reports and model retraining. It supports background runs, parameterized notebooks for reuse, and multi-notebook workflows. AI-assisted troubleshooting is also integrated to help resolve failures.

Features (3)
  • Schedule, parameterize, and orchestrate notebook runs in SageMaker Studio

SageMaker Unified Studio now enables direct scheduling, parameterization, and orchestration of notebook runs from the interface, eliminating the need for separate orchestration infrastructure. This allows for automated recurring workloads and reuse of notebooks with different inputs.

  • Run notebooks in the background and chain workflows

Users can trigger on-demand background runs on dedicated compute without interrupting interactive sessions and orchestrate multi-notebook workflows by chaining them together. This ensures outputs from one notebook can serve as inputs for subsequent ones.

  • AI-assisted troubleshooting and natural language interaction for notebook runs

When scheduled or background runs fail, SageMaker Data Agent provides AI-assisted troubleshooting, identifying root causes and suggesting fixes within the notebook. The Data Agent can also be used to create schedules and initiate notebook runs using natural language commands.

Notes (1)
  • Getting started with SageMaker Studio notebook scheduling

To begin using notebook scheduling, open a notebook in SageMaker Unified Studio and access the run options via the 'Run all' button menu. Schedules can be created via the notebook header icon or by using the Data Agent with natural language prompts.
