Sharing Foreign Schemas and Tables with OpenSharing is Generally Available

Databricks OpenSharing now supports generally available sharing and reading of foreign schemas and tables. This capability allows providers to share federated data from external sources using Lakehouse Federation, eliminating the need to copy data into Databricks. The feature benefits organizations looking to share data more efficiently with recipients. However, providers should note that data materialization on their side will incur compute and storage costs.
