Snowflake and OpenAI launch production-ready business-native AI

Organizations can now access frontier OpenAI models directly within Snowflake Cortex AI, enabling AI-powered insights grounded in enterprise data across multiple cloud providers. This integration is managed by Snowflake, maintaining data governance and compliance controls.

Snowflake CoWork provides business users with an AI-powered expert that can answer questions in plain language, automatically retrieving and analyzing data with governance and semantic context. This aims to accelerate data-driven decision-making without direct data team involvement.

Snowflake CoCo offers AI assistance for developers and data teams, understanding Snowflake schemas, metadata, and context to aid in building agents, writing transformations, and debugging pipelines. It leverages OpenAI's reasoning capabilities for faster, more confident development.

By providing semantic context upfront, OpenAI models require fewer tokens for discovery and more for reasoning, leading to higher first-shot accuracy and reduced costs. This context ensures models reason in business terms from the first interaction.

The platform functions as an agentic control plane, providing built-in governance, observability, semantic context, and cost management. OpenAI models are managed directly within this control plane, ensuring data and prompts remain within user-defined security boundaries.
