Amazon EMR 7.14 is Now Available
Amazon EMR 7.14 is now generally available, bringing new features across Amazon EMR on EC2, Amazon EMR on EKS, and Amazon EMR Serverless. This release includes upgrades to Apache Spark 3.5.8 and Apache Iceberg 1.10.1, enhancing big data processing capabilities. Key improvements include faster Iceberg materialized view refreshes via change data capture, Spark Connect endpoint support with token-based authentication on EMR on EKS, and an increased storage limit for Spark jobs on EMR Serverless. The update is accessible in all AWS Regions where Amazon EMR is offered.

- Amazon EMR on EKS Enhancements
EMR on EKS clusters now support Spark Connect endpoints, enabling interactive Spark sessions with token-based authentication. Additionally, these clusters can now run workloads on IPv6 Amazon EKS clusters, expanding networking options.

- Faster Apache Iceberg Materialized Views
Apache Iceberg materialized views now benefit from faster refresh times on tables with updates and deletes. This improvement is achieved by utilizing change data capture to read only the data files affected by a change, optimizing performance.
- Increased Storage Limit for EMR Serverless Spark Jobs
The storage limit for Spark jobs running on Amazon EMR Serverless has been significantly increased from 200 GiB to 1 TiB. This provides more ample room for shuffle data, supporting larger and more complex Spark workloads.
